The food is okay. Go for the view from the patio.

The Grill Room is owned by the same guy who owns Stagestop and the $5 $10 $15 Restaurant, which explains a lot. The food at the Grill Room is “good” but it’s essentially just the same food from Stagestop, except a few dollars more expensive. At Stagestop I feel you get a good value for your money, but with the atmosphere at The Grill Room — namely, the amazing view from the patio — it feels like such a missed opportunity. The Grill Room *could be* a really special place, if they put in just a little effort to elevate the menu.

That said I do enjoy going to The Grill Room, primarily when I want to unwind and enjoy the view. Sit on the patio and order the burger — you can’t go wrong. It’s the exact same burger from Stagestop, just more expensive.

I’ve had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here, and everything was… fine. But nothing stands out as particularly memorable or worth mentioning. Except perhaps the fact they do a Sunday brunch buffet, which is the only halfway-decent Sunday brunch that I’m aware of in this town. (Although it pales by comparison to pretty much everything in Vegas, if you’re willing to drive.)

The focus of the place seems to be the bar and its gaming machines. I have nothing against that, but I just get the vibe that the restaurant/food side of the business is something they do because they are expected to, not because anyone’s heart is really in it.

I’m probably being too harsh on The Grill Room because of its connection to Stagestop and the bad experiences I’ve had there. However I’ve never (yet) had any problems with the service at The Grill Room, even though I have occasionally seen the same staff at both locations.

So, all that being said, don’t let me discourage you. The Grill Room is a lovely place to go eat and the food is just fine, and not terribly expensive. The view of the golf course, with the lake in the foreground and Mount Charleston in the background, easily makes up for any other shortcomings.
