Critic’s Review
A very nice family runs this Mexican restaurant. The food at Las Patronaz is… decent. I feel bad that I can’t be more enthusiastic, considering the people are always friendly when I go there. Unfortunately I’ve been spoiled by truly good Mexican food (not in Pahrump) so it’s hard to for me to get excited about the food here.
That said, we go to Las Patronaz fairly regularly, just because we like the place. Anything you order — burritos, tacos, fajitas, you name it — will be decent and fill you up. I’ve never had anything bad there. I just feel it lacks a certain…. something. They seem to put most of their effort in to the main items — which are all good — but I feel like the sides are a bit of a let down. The tortillas are not homemade; the rice is a little dry; the beans are a bit bland. But maybe I’m just being picky. I’ll stop here as I really don’t want to disparage the place.
I was wobbling between 3 and 4 stars on the Food rating, and finally decided to round up since it must be good if we keep going there. 🙂
The drinks are decent — no real iced tea, but I usually console myself with a Margarita instead. They have a full bar and plenty of seating, and I’ve never had to wait for a table. The location is in a strip mall behind Wal-Mart — unfortunate for them that they can’t get the benefit of the traffic from the main highway, but they seem to do alright nevertheless.
They do have really good Flan, so save room for dessert if possible!
