Critic’s Review

* Update 10/25/23: They’ve burned me as a customer and I won’t be going back. Stagestop has never been known for great service, but the last straw was when my wife and I showed up for dinner at 7:20pm (on a night they were open until 8pm) and the waitress refused to seat us. She said they had already done “last call for food”. Coming from a service background, I understand it’s rude to walk into a restaurant 15 minutes before closing…. but 40 minutes? We absolutely should have been served. There were only 2 other tables there at the time, it wasn’t terribly busy, so this was just a lazy and rude waitress who was more interested in clocking out than taking care of customers. I’m done.

Original review remains below for historical purposes:

It’s good food and it’s cheap. No frills, basic American faire. It’s a hard-to-find hole-in-the-wall place, yet it has a certain charm about it. Where else can you get a good burger, fries, and a drink for $10 all-in?

The service is hit-and-miss, only because they seem to be severely under-staffed. I’ve never seen more than one server working at a time. So if there are only 1 or 2 tables, you’ll be fine. But if the restaurant is busy, you’ll be waiting a long time for everything. The servers have always been nice to me, so I don’t fault them personally, but it’s clear the management here aren’t providing adequate staffing.

The location is a bit off the beaten path. From the outside it doesn’t look like anything, and the sign is really easy to miss. The restaurant itself is back around the side of the building, so you can’t even see it from the street. You really have to know this place is here.

Inside it’s old with random western stuff thrown up on the walls… and I love it. 🙂 It has an authentic “rural Nevada” feel to it that you won’t find in any new places.

The food is not fancy but it’s good, and you really do get a good value for your money here. I honestly don’t know how they stay in business, but a friend who used to work there tells me they make their money off the casino & bar. I’m glad, because I really like this restaurant and I hope it continues to exist for a long time to come.
